Idomeni, a small town in the north of Greece near the border with Macedonia has become a symbol. Thousands of refugees passed through the border every day, crossing a three kilometer-long barbed wire. Entire families, mostly from Syria, passed in order to continue their journey to Northern Europe, until the moment the Balkan countries closed their borders preventing them from continuing their journey. Thousands of souls stuck in limbo, between a dreamed future and an abandoned past. Thousands of souls hoping for the moment the borders would open again. Until the moment the Greece authorities closed the camp and many of them were deported to official camps. The story of Idomeni does not finish with the closure of the camp. “Idomeni” are the thousands of people who waited and fought for months and who will continue to do so. “Idomeni” are the thousands of people with very clear plans who have been and are willing to suffer for their goals. Where are they know? How will they try to reach their destination? Because one thing is sure; they do not want to go back.
